- Anagrams 1.2
- ============
-
- © Andrew Trevorrow and Nick Spencer 1995. All rights reserved.
-
- This program makes it fun and easy to find interesting anagrams.
- If you've tried Ars Magna or Karma Manager then we think you'll find our
- program a pleasant alternative. It's faster, has a lot more features, and
- has a much nicer user interface. See "About Anagrams" for the details.
-
- Shareware fee
- -------------
-
- Anagrams is shareware, so if you like it and decide to keep it, please
- pay the shareware fee:

-
- This is a one-time-only fee that covers you for all future versions.
- (There is a $5 discount for registered OzTeX users.)
- Send your payment by cash, cheque or money order to:
-
- Andrew Trevorrow

-
- NOTE: The Register program provides an alternative way to pay.
- In particular, it allows for payment by credit card; this should be
- cheaper and easier for most people outside Australia.
-
- If you want to, include the following information with your payment.

- Changes in version 1.2
- --------------------
-
- - Anagrams is now a "fat" application that runs in native mode on
- both 680x0 and PowerPC Macs. Finding anagrams on a Power Mac
- is about 6 times faster.
-
- - The new Tree menu provides a mechanism for building a tree of
- selected usable words. All paths in the tree are valid prefixes for
- potential anagrams. This makes it easier to systematically explore a
- set of interesting sub-phrases for lengthy texts. See "The Tree Menu"
- topic in About Anagrams for more details.
-
- - All user preferences are now saved in a file called "Anagrams Prefs"
- rather than in the application. This means you won't have to restore
- your settings (like the hot text list) when a new version is released.
- Anagrams creates the preferences file in the Preferences sub-folder
- in System 7 and later, or in the System folder under earlier Systems.
- If you like, you can move the preferences file to the same folder as
- the application. This can make it easier to do backups.
-
- - The Save Settings item has been removed. All user preferences are
- automatically saved when you quit the program.
-
- - The sub-menus in the File menu have been replaced by toggle items.
- A new toggle item allows usable words to be sorted alphabetically.
- This makes it easier to locate known words.
-
- - After you select Enter Hot Text the program automatically finds a
- new set of usable words.
-
- - Fixed a bug in the progress bar.
-
- - Added support for required Apple events under System 7 and later.
-
- - If a lengthy task finishes in the background then the small Anagrams
- icon will flash in the menu bar and a diamond mark will appear next
- to Anagrams in the Application menu.
-
- Changes in version 1.1
- --------------------
-
- - If more than one usable word is selected, "Find Anagrams" will only
- generate anagrams containing ALL the selected words. This makes
- it much easier to find interesting anagrams for lengthy phrases.
- The program will beep if you attempt to find anagrams with an
- impossible combination of words.
-
- - Stack space is at least 16K to avoid a crash on an SE/30.
-
- - Fixed an incompatibility problem with After Dark 3.0.
-
- - Fixed a bug in the Edit dictionary dialog that allowed "words" with
- characters other than A to Z to be stored in the dictionary.
-
- - Better recovery if you run out of memory while finding anagrams.
-
